It’s been nearly three years since Future and Ciara called off their engagement, but looking back on the relationship, it’s easy to see the “Mask Off” rapper was a different person. During his time with Ciara, Future released the album Honest, a project which critics said lacked his signature sound.
In a new interview with Billboard, however, Fewtch got even more up close and personal about his fan-favorite subject matter, pharmaceuticals, and how his former relationship with R&B songstress Ciara nearly ended it all.
Discussing how the projects landmarked critical stages in his life, ultimately landing him in a happier place now, Future recalled some of what it took to adapt to his previous relationship with CeeCee. He claimed that curbing marijuana and codeine use, to name a few, were some of the adjustments he attempted while dating the mother of his 2-year-old son.
According to Future, he felt he was turning into a “cornball.” The rapper told the publication, “They had me going the cornball route!” But while the two have had a rocky relationship since they went separate ways, Future says he’s in a better place now.
