Middlesbrough have sacked manager Aitor Karanka.
The Riversiders have been in woeful form and have slipped into the Premier League relegation zone. They are without a win in 10 Premier League games, with their last success coming back on December 17.
“I’d like to thank Middlesbrough for a wonderful opportunity and the players, staff and all the people at the club who I have worked with.
“I’d also like to thank the fans for their support. This club will always hold a special place for me and I wish everyone connected with Middlesbrough Football Club the very best for the future.”
Karanka had been in charge for three-and-a-half years and guided the club to promotion last term. But this season has been a frustrating one, with Boro now 19th in the Premier League table. They have scored the fewest goals in English football this term, with just two coming since the turn of the year.
